It's been a while
On life and professoring
I used to try to keep a diary, and often, I’d miss several days due to life circumstances or just simply not wanting to write. Inevitably, I’d start my next entry with something like, “Sorry it’s been so long.” I’m tempted to start this blog that way, too. It’s been several months since I’ve posted. In fact, many of you subscribed to me months ago, and you’ve yet to see a single post from me. For that, I’m sorry. Now that my apology is out of the way, I want to talk about where I’ve been.
A Bit of A Professional Update
In August, I started a new job—a dream job. I’m now an assistant professor of business and economics at a small, Christian college in northwestern Iowa. It still seems surreal to me that I get to say that—they pay me to do this, and I’m still pinching myself every day. I teach classes like business law, business writing, media law, HR management, small business management, and fundraising for mission. This job is especially awesome because my husband also teaches here, and his office is just down the hallway from mine, so we get to see each other often.
This might help explain why I haven’t posted on Substack in a while. I’ve been prepping for classes, teaching, and writing for other ministries, like beEmboldened and the Christian Research Journal. I’ve scaled back my speaking engagements significantly, now only speaking about once a semester. All that to say, my work life has been busy, but very blessed.
But Wait, There’s More!
As I indicated above, even though I haven’t been writing here, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing. In addition to monthly blogs with other ministries, last summer I co-authored a book with Dr. Douglas Groothuis called What If Jesus Is Right? (Tyndale Elevate). It will release August 2026. It was a great experience working with Doug and the whole team at Tyndale, and I can’t wait for you to read the book. I get to be the voice of the audiobook version, which I’ll record in the coming months. If you want to pre-order the book, you may do so on Amazon here. You can learn more about the book here.
All that to say, I’m in a place now where I can begin writing here more regularly, and I plan to do so. As a reminder, this is the space where I tackle all sorts of topics, not just those related to Christianity and apologetics. What do you want to hear about from me? Let me know in the comments!
